Many Years Ago, I Was Proud To Be Poor!

My name is Bo Sanchez.

For 18 years, I was a poor missionary.

It helped that I was single then.

I had no babies that needed diapers or a wife to romance on dates or a house mortgage to pay. So being poor was okay.

In fact, I was proud that I was poor.

Because I used to think that to be close to God, I had to be poor too. I had this subconscious belief that money was evil.

I actually lived with the poor. I knocked on doors and shared Jesus to anyone who would care to listen to me. I ate with them, laughed with them, and prayed with them. And I was happy being poor among the poor.

But even back then, there was one nagging thought that ate me up: I couldn’t help them get out of material poverty.

I wanted to help their kids eat better because I saw how malnourishment was stunting their young brains. I wanted them to move out of their shanties, where their torn-down houses were submerged in foul-smelling, mosquito-infested water nine months of the year. I wanted to help them get jobs and start businesses.

But I didn’t know how.

I Had Two Problems With Money

First, I was repulsed by money. Subconsciously, I didn’t like it. As a young Christian, I viewed it as an instrument of evil. My relationship with money was toxic. No wonder it kept fleeing away from me.

Second, I didn’t know anything about money. I didn’t know how business or investments worked. I knew a lot about the Bible and building ministries, but I knew zilch about money.

Background: I became a missionary at age thirteen (crazy, right?).

I remained poor until the age of thirty.

I loved what I was doing. And I loved poverty too.

But just before my thirtieth birthday, I decided I wanted to be a millionaire missionary—as my preparation for getting married at age thirty-two.

When I announced my intention, some people frowned. One religious leader told me, “Bo, you cannot mix God with money. That’s an abomination.”

But in my heart, that was precisely why I wanted to become rich. I wanted to serve God as a married guy with kids, and not think about money too much because I had an abundance of it.

Because I noticed that my married friends, who were my fellow missionaries, were always financially hard up, always wondering how to feed their kids and how to send them to school. Inevitably, they ended up thinking about money too often.

I didn’t like that kind of life!

My Turning Point

Thus, my dream to become a millionaire missionary.

So I dove in head first, learning everything I could about money, business, and investments. I read a ton of books, met with mentors, and joined a slew of seminars. I was like a sponge.

Very soon, I learned about creating many income streams.

Four years later, when I turned thirty-four, I became a millionaire.

One day, I told my ministry to stop giving me my monthly salary—because I was already earning from my investments and businesses. That was a happy day. Because now, I could continue to serve the community without being a burden.

I also turned around and started teaching my friends to grow in their finances. My battle cry? To help good people become rich. (It later became the mission of TRC or TrulyRichClub.)

My first “customers” were my house staff—Gina and Weng.

I told myself, “If I can teach my house managers (maids) how to grow their money through the stock market, I can teach anyone!”

My house managers are part of my family. My wife and I love them dearly and we wanted them to be rich too. But no matter how much we raised their salary, they remained broke.

But when they learned the TRC system, it happened. After 12 years, Gina now has P2 Million and Weng has P1.5 Million. When they retire by age 60, I did the calculations—they’ll have between P10 Million to P20 Million each.

Helping Good People Become Rich

Over the past 18 years in TRC, we’ve been able to help THOUSANDS of other people move towards financial freedom.

How did we do it?

Recall the two past problems I had about money?

People had them too.

First, I had to heal their toxic relationship with money.

I told them that money can be an instrument of both evil and good. It’s our choice what direction we take. I led them to fix their money mindset.

Second, I had to raise people’s financial IQ. Which is the purpose of this book. I’m writing to encourage you to build your Multiple Money Machines.

Today, I’m a millionaire missionary.

I now have 7 income streams flowing to my life. I invest in the stock market and run my own businesses that serve many.

And perhaps more importantly, I’m able to fund many ministry projects.

Yes, I’m still a missionary. I still preach, write, and serve the poor, lifting them out of poverty. And the impact of my ministry has multiplied a hundred times more.

But in case you’re asking, I don’t drive a luxury car or own a mansion.

Yes, I can afford to buy them. But as a personal choice, I remain simple in my lifestyle. Why? Not because it’s wrong to own them. I repeat: It’s a personal choice. But I believe that the ultimate purpose of wealth is to love others. And I’ve made a choice to use my wealth to make this world a better place.

I’m Truly Rich because of two reasons: My passive income is much more than my monthly expenses—and so I’m able to tithe to God and give sacrificially for the ministry and the poor.
